The Great Gatsby gets a new trailer

After many tweets and Facebook status’ about the brand new upcoming Great Gatsby trailer – today is the day, it’s here! The glitz and glamour of the ’20s radiates throughout the 2.44 minute clip, showing much more detail in the plot (although you must know the plot surely, book lovers?) and then there’s the soundtrack of course. There’s this guy named Jay-Z (you may have heard of him) who just so happens to be the executive producer and features the likes of Beyonce, The XX, Lana del Rey and Florence  + The Machine. This of course gives a complete contrast to the 1920s era, and could possibly worry hardcore fans of the classic novel by F. Scott Fitzgerald. Although I am a fan of the book, I do think the soundtrack works well and will give the film a slight edge.

Seeing a further glimpse into the incredible costume design is a real pleasure and I’m sure is the last teaser before the film release this May – my review will be uploaded as soon as I’ve seen it!

Visually the film looks stunning – I particularly like Leonardo DiCaprio’s (who plays Jay Gatsby) colour palette – it’s so varied. The guy loves a good suit and the array of different colours is impressive – there’s monochrome, pastels and neutrals but I’m definitely a fan of the pastel pink number which is similar to one worn by Robert Redford in the 1974 adaptation. Also, isn’t Carey Mulligan the perfect Daisy? Her dresses make me envious. I’m sure costume designer Catherine Martin will be hugely praised on her designs once the film is released for all of us to see.

More to come on the costume designs after the UK release date on the 16th May.

Mad Men Season 6 teaser photographs

Mad Men is one of my favourite television shows of all time. Very apt to write about on On Screen Fashion due to the beautiful 1960s designs and it’s always exciting when a new season starts which it will in oh … about six days! Holy shit. I look forward to seeing the beautiful Joan Holloway in all of her curvaceousness and watching Sally Draper develop further into a very interesting (and stylish!) character.

Both colour and black and white photographs have just been released to give you a taster on what to expect and to keep you going over those next few agonising days until season six begins. Even though I find her character completely fascinating, it was no surprise to see Betty Draper looking miserable as always. Enjoy!
